There Will Be Blood end credits
Tonight, the Wordless Music series presented a screening of the 2007 film “There Will Be Blood” with live orchestra. Jonny Greenwood performed live with the group on Ondes Martenot, a curious, early electronic instrument that has since come back from obscurity, mostly with his help.
As both a fan of Radiohead and Mr. Greenwood’s compositional work on the films Bodysong and The Master, I was extremely happy to see this program come to fruition. Additionally, the majority of the audience I met were either musicians themselves, or extremely tuned into the scene in some way. Everyone appreciated the extremely talented orchestra, and the arpeggiated cello solo on Arvo Part’s piece, Fratres for Cello and Piano, was incredible. I wish they had handed out Playbills for this show so I could find out who the cellist was.
So to Mr. Greenwood, thank you so much for an amazing score and doing what you do. I continue to admire your work!
